Biblical Threshing
(Crete 1965)

A sledge is used to tread the sheaves.
The sledge is drawn by cows or mules. Its underside is set with flakes
of chert or (at later times) strips of band-saw shaped iron. Prickly plants
are fixed near the animal's muzzle to prevent them from eating the grain.
